And the landscapers who embrace it will lead.
Ignite 2026 brought big ideas, exciting announcements, and a first look at Command Center, a new intelligence layer designed to give contractors a near real-time view of their entire operation. ServiceTitan Co-Founder and CEO Ara Mahdessian explained how connected AI can change the way contractors run their businesses, and what it means for those who act now versus those who wait.
✍️ Here are 5 takeaways from his keynote:
1. The work in the field is harder to automate
Diagnosing a property, solving a problem and doing the work require physical skill in unpredictable environments. Ara sees the bigger opportunity in the office workflows around that work.
2. The workflows around the work are ready to change
Scheduling, routing, payments, proposals and payroll can be automated. Contractors who make those workflows more efficient will gain an edge over competitors who wait.
3. Waiting for perfect AI could mean falling behind
Ara compared dismissing AI for its early limitations to dismissing the first iPhone because it lacked copy and paste. As AI improves, he said, contractors need to find ways to embrace it.
4. The platform you choose can shape the outcome
Disconnected tools create extra work and conflicting information. Ara introduced Command Center to help contractors spot issues sooner and make better operational decisions.
5. Automation could widen the growth gap
In Ara’s example, a $5M business that grows revenue 20% and raises its profit margin from 10% to 15% goes from $500,000 to $900,000 in annual profit. That extra money can help fund growth and higher pay for crews.
Which of these hits closest to home for your business?
