Field staff and Aspire Community members have flagged a consistent issue: Android devices are significantly slower than iPhones when using Aspire Mobile - despite having the same software, tickets, and WiFi.

✅ I’ve confirmed all devices and Aspire Mobile apps are updated to the latest version
✅ I’ve tested it myself - iPhone loads instantly, Android lags noticeably
✅ Other companies are seeing the same thing

This might point to a problem within the app itself, not just signal or connectivity.

With Crew Mobile sunsetting in November, now’s the time to act.

This was our experience at Milosi. Clicking the “force sync” button every morning helped but not a lot.

The link is not working for us. Did it get deleted?

All of our company-issued phones are Android, so any of the phones I have tried Aspire Mobile on have all had lag. That would explain, though, why I have not seen as many others report this issue. If iPhones are not having the issue, and the majority of users on Apple products, that would explain it!

Hi everyone- we hear your concerns and appreciate the feedback on Aspire Mobile. There are a few things to consider.

  • Android has a much wider set of configurations of device memory, chip performance, etc., than does Apple, so it's understandable that performance would vary more widely.
  • The technology we use to develop Aspire Mobile (React Native) allows us to create a single codebase that is interpreted by Android and iOS individually. There is nothing inherent in the code that causes different performance experiences.React Native was created by Facebook/Meta, and it's one of the most popular mobile programming languages.

We have performance enhancements planned that will provide a smoother, faster experience across all devices this summer and into Ignite so that is something to look forward to.

@jgrasch Thanks for the heads up! I jumped the gun on posting this - the idea is still in “Needs Review” status. If/when it is available for voting, I’ll be sure to update this thread!

@baraica Thanks so much for the update Briz! We really appreciate the Aspire team taking the time to hear our concerns and provide context around React Native and device variability.

Do you know if the planned performance enhancements will specifically address the variability in app  performance across Android devices? Is there anything in particular that can be done to reduce the lagginess some Android users are experiencing within the React Native framework?

Looking forward to the upcoming improvements this summer and into Ignite! 🌱
