Looking for ideas from anyone using Aspire to manage nursery inventory.

Does anyone use Aspire to manage a nursery or purchase trees/shrubs in bulk that are received into inventory, maintained in a holding yard, and then later allocated to construction or enhancement jobs after they've grown to a different size?

Our biggest challenge is third-party delivery costs. The trucking company invoices delivery separately from the plant material, and the freight cost varies based on the number, size, and type of plants that fit on each truckload.

How are you accounting for those delivery costs?

  • Are you capitalizing them into inventory?
  • Expensing them as indirect overhead?
  • Allocating them to jobs when inventory is issued?
  • Using a standard or average delivery cost?

I'd love to hear how others have configured Aspire or what process has worked well for your team.

For bulk orders like this we capitalize into inventory. But we do not grow plants from one size to another.

I would reach out to Garden View Landscape & Nursery in LA, they have a retail nursery & a landscape design build co & have integrated the two sides using the API.
