Integrating VectorWorks with Aspire?

I came here to see if anyone else is using Vectorworks Landmark for their landscape designs. In the process, I went to Aspire’s website to confirm the name of the software, as I remembered Vectorworks and Aspire having some sort of partnership/integration in the past. However, it appears that may no longer be the case.

I’m curious if anyone has more information on that, but my main question is:

How are you integrating your design work with Aspire to make the design-to-estimating process more efficient?

Currently, we use Vectorworks for design and Aspire for estimating. Without an integration—or even a straightforward export/import process—we find ourselves manually transferring the quantities and values from Vectorworks into Aspire to build the estimate.

That creates quite a bit of duplicate work, and it becomes especially cumbersome when:

  • A design changes and quantities need to be updated
  • We want to provide multiple design/pricing options to a client or prospect
  • We go through several rounds of revisions
  • Quantities already calculated in Vectorworks have to be manually recreated in Aspire

Ideally, we’d love a workflow where the quantities generated through the design process in Vectorworks could flow into Aspire while still allowing Aspire to handle our items, kits, production factors, pricing, margins, etc.

For those of you designing in Vectorworks—or another landscape design platform—how are you handling this today? Have you found an efficient workflow, integration, export/import process, API solution, or other workaround?

If anyone has figured out a better way to bridge design → takeoff → estimating in Aspire, we’re all ears!

    I’ll be curious to hear what people come up with. We don’t have a good process for this. I know Property Intel does some of what you’re looking for. It can generate items in Aspire in some way. We don’t use it extensively.

      I’m going to bump this. We are undergoing a slow transition from Autodesk products to Vectorworks and it seems like a giant missed opportunity on Aspire’s side to not have an integration in mind. From what I have been shown by our design team the amount of data you can export out of vectorworks regarding plant schedules etc is massive and could reduce the amount of data entry and verification needed during estimate building in Aspire.

      Unfortunately I think the chances are low this happens in the near future as Aspire continues to cater to their biggest customers which are commercial maintenance firms. To be fair to them, there has been some improvement to features for Design/Build and Construction firms, but it is clearly not the main priority for them. Based on conversations I’ve had at Ignite as well as data they have published in their own “2026 Commercial Landscape Industry Report”, D/B Firms are a minority of users, figure attached below. I remain hopeful as Aspire continues to dig a deeper foothold as the industry standard that construction features will receive more TLC, however.

        Maybe my graph analytic skills are rusty, but design-bid-build is four of the eight service categories!  You combine those and it’s a large segment of services!  (Admittedly, you could do the same with the top three categories of maintenance.)

        Of course, landscape construction is always going to be proportionately less than maintenance, but I suspect if you looked at the whole numbers for design-bid-build it’s a significant portion of the Aspire users' experience/need.
