Hi - I’ve always wondered,  is there a difference between Service Abr and Service Abr (Lookup)? What is the Service Abr in the work ticket search field? Is it actually display name? I am just wondering if someone knows this off the top of their head otherwise I can poke around and try to figure it out.

When filtering, Service Abr expects an argument (type in text), while Service Abr (Lookup) gives you a dropdown list. There is no difference when it comes to the display of the services.

If you do a Service Abr Override when estimating it will override both.

When set up a service under system administration, must setup a service abbreviation. So that the scheduling board and the Aspire mobile app will display the service Abbreviation. (Since the scheduling board is so busy and the Aspire mobile App on phone is small). The limit is 25 characters.

During the estimate process. There is an option of service name abbreviation override. So estimator can type another name here.

When filter by “service abr (look up)”, these list out the all the admin listed service abr options.

filter by “service abr”, search matches the system default abbreviation names and the override names.

So the display name is never searchable in the work ticket list, correct?

Yes, display name is facing client. As the above example, estimator may change the display name to be “Back Yard Beds Irrigation Reno” to be more specific.

I think that this is wrong. The override shows in both. The lookup is purely for the clickable filter list.

Yes. When the service abbreviation is overridden, the new name appears in both the Service Abr and Service Abr (Lookup) fields on the ticket list.

However, if you filter Service Abr (Lookup) by selecting the original service abbreviation, the ticket will still appear.

To clarify:

  • If no override exists, filtering by Service Abr matches the default service abbreviation.
  • If an override exists, filtering by Service Abr matches the overridden name.
  • Filtering by Service Abr (Lookup) uses the original service abbreviation, even when an override exists.
