What’s the best practice for blocking time off on schedules? For example, I have a tech that will be off for three days at the end of the month. Ideally, I’d like to place something on the scheduling board that helps prevent him being scheduled work tickets on those days.

Hey everyone! One thing we’ve seen is creating a separate indirect ticket tied to a company property (not the internal property) and then scheduling that ticket on the days the employee is taking PTO.

I would love to see what other people have come up with as well. It would be a really great feature to be able to mark a route with PTO so it’s clear not to schedule for a certain day. Interested to see what workarounds people have come up with.

That is a great suggestion, and it is actually something we have been adapting where I work as well.

One thing that helped us a lot was creating individual properties for each employee. We then attach those indirect tickets (PTO or unavailable)  to that property and schedule them on the board.

What I like about this approach is that when the unavailable person is part of a crew, I can still clearly see that the rest of the crew is available on that route while that specific technician is blocked out.

Just wanted to share that addition since it has been working really well for us.
